The AMZ Racing journey
Large-scale projects need a strong partnership just as much as a dedicated team. We are AMZ-Racing, a collaborative venture of ETH Zurich and Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Since our inception in 2006, every year has been a testament to our dedication to designing and building a new racing car. Our consistent success is not only attributed to our industrious team but also the unwavering support of our sponsors and alumni.
At present, our team comprises around 60 members, all sharing the same vision: crafting innovative race cars and experimenting with novel ideas, spanning both driver-operated and driverless systems.
This year, we are elated to unveil “castor.” A pivotal component of its build is the premium printed circuit boards (PCBs) it incorporates. In this endeavor, our association with Eurocircuits has been invaluable. They have consistently supplied us with PCBs that adhere to the rigorous standards our racing cars demand. Of particular note are the six PCBs integrated into Castor’s inverter and the high-voltage PCB nestled within our in-house developed accumulator. Fabricated by Eurocircuits, these boards are not only robust but are also tailored to withstand the rigorous conditions a racecar is subjected to during an extended race. Their intricate design ensures maximum utility within a confined space. This without making any concessions on safety or efficacy. Given the superior materials and techniques employed by Eurocircuits, we have utmost confidence in the reliability and longevity of these PCBs. Ensuring they won’t fail the team when it matters most.
Our technical collaboration with Eurocircuits ensures that our racing car operates at its pinnacle. Perennially pushing the boundaries and fulfilling the requisites of a first-rate prototype electric race vehicle.
With partners like Eurocircuits we were able to secure the 2nd place at the world’s biggest engineering event in the world, namely Formula Student Germany. This result is the best AMZ performance in 5 years and simultaneously cements our position as one of the fastest Formula Student teams in the world. Our gratitude extends to partners like Eurocircuits who play a significant role in turning our visions into reality. Continually challenging the confines of physics and our own potential.
